mpeg2/ts to xvid avi test file, larger as AVI?!?

I'm starting with a high definition .ts I captured from my STB and it's 60 seconds / 44mb, I run auto gk and it becomes a 196mb AVI, how is that happening, shouldn't it be a FRACTION of the original size?

Without knowing exactly what settings you used or seeing the log generated by AutoGK, no one will be able to answer your question.
