Disney Movies

Hi all, someone over in the Gknot forum asked this question that I will post below in quotes. No one is responding in that forum so I'll try this one. I'm curious also as to learn the answer, if anyone has experience with encoding Disney type movies, with divx 4.x codec, and perhaps Gknot prog.


Trying to backup my copy of Snow White, yeah i collect Disney, i'm secure in my masculinity. Anyway using the default video settings for a one cd rip the video is very jumpy and has lines, I've encoded a few dozen movies but no animation so far? Does anyone know what the problem is?

Any idea's?

I've encoded many Disney movies, and haven't had any problems.
I haven't done Snow White though - because I downloaded that one.

Have you turned "deMacrovision" on in SmartRipper? Maybe it's off,
causing copy protection to kick in.

you have to give us a little more details here.. how about what dvd2avi settings you used, the avisynth script and the gknot logfile?

Thanks, and sorry for the lack of details. I didn't originally ask the question, so I have no idea what the person did to get those results.

I was curious because I have an 8 year old niece that I know I'll be encoding those type of movies for, and I've read before that with animation movies, you need to take unique steps, etc.

Since Prizm said he/she has had no problem with these type of movies, I feel more comfortable in pursuing a disney encode.

well.. I presume the effects you got are due to an incorrect IVTC. Maybe force film was used when the film percentage was lower than the famous 95% (which btw isn't an exact science.. just a rule that works most of the time ;) look like you have to ivtc that title the hard way
