Hey All,
I have a DVD which gives me problems.
On the main menu are 3 choices.
2 of them, when selected, will play 2 different movies (an interview and a small trailer of sorts)
The problem is that when those are played, I cannot pause or seek; nothing happens. The OSD still says "MENU" when they are playing.
I already totally disabled all "prohibited user operations" and reburnt but I'm having the same results.
I'm guessing because these 2 videos are treated as MENU and not as programs of their own.
I tried to look into IfoEdit but I've frankly no idea where to start to reauthor this properly. :/
Thanks for any help.
See you,
TSR

It sounds like the video pieces are put in menu space instead of title space on the DVD. That's the only way I can think of to keep a DVD Player saying 'MENU' when actual video is playing. What's the 3rd choice on the menu? If the 3rd choice is actually a feature video, the disc might have been authored this way so you can leave the feature half-way, and while in the menu play the interview and trailer, and then resume right back to where you left off...
Also, UOPs can be set at the PGC _and_ Cell level, so if you enable all UOPs at one level, but they are disabled at the other, they still won't work... Normally, you can pause/fast forward/etc Menus if these UOPs are open, but I suppose it's possible that some DVD players 'know better' and have those option disabled all the time regardless of your programming...
If you don't think the resume thing is the reason these were put in menu space, I'd just rebuild the disc with them in the correct place (under Titles in a VTS) to guarantee there won't be any problems...

That's right, the 3rd choice in the menu leads to a feature video, on which play/pause/seek work without problems and OSD displays the current/remaining time info.
Yes, it's probably been authored this way so as to have the resume function working for the main movie.
Also, UOPs can be set at the PGC _and_ Cell level, so if you enable all UOPs at one level, but they are disabled at the other, they still won't work... hmm I think i get what you mean ;)

I do think the resume thing is the reason they're playing as "MENU", but frankly i don't care for this feature, I'd rather have all 3 choices behave like videos, not MENU. I want to be able to pause & seek on all of them.
I'm looking into how ifoedit works to re-author it properly. I would like of course to keep the main menu working!
Is this the soft i should be using ? ^^;
Thanks,
