Remove audio clipping?

I have an avi project where I'm slicing up several scenes that have audio throughout. At the transition point of one clip to another, I'm getting audio clips. Is there an easy way to get rid of these?

You mean the audio suddenly changes?

Well, I'm not sure exactly what you means by "suddenly changes", but there's a slight "chirk" ot "tick" sound when the next clip starts, unless the volume level on the two clips are relatively similar.


It's because the sound waves from one clip to another are not "blended together" -- let me try some ascii

This transition has no clipping, because the sound waves "meet" at the transition ( or get close enough )

This transition has clipping because the sound waves don't "meet" at the transition -- the amplitude or whatever at the start of clip two is way higher than the end of clip 1.

OKay, well, the ascii didn't work out so well, I'll look for another way to describe the phenomenon.

OK, I might be using the wrong term. Audacity calls it "click removal", and here's an image of it:

It's about at the 3.8 mark, and if it isn't smoothed out, there is a sudden "click" or "pop noise". It happens when you join together two samples that have different amplitudes or volumes or whatever at the join point.

I would try to join the audio in audacity. If that doesn't work, add fade-ins and outs to the audio tracks of every clip.
