This problem is really driving me crazy. I've got about 20 HD-DVDs and I already ripped them to my hard disk by using AnyDVD HD.

For most EVO files, if I open it in media player/mediainfo/Tsmuxer, it showed me that the framerate is 29.97 fps, but EVODemux told me that the framerate is 23.976. I tried encode one EVO file at two different rates and only 23.976 gave me synchronized a/v output. My first question is why MPC/Tsmuxer give out the wrong fps for the EVO files? (Tsmuxer does give me the right fps value for my blu-ray .m2ts file).

Second question, I got planet earth HD-DVD set, but this time even EVOdemux gives me some odd result:

Opening file EVOB003.EVO
Reading...
File size: 5215 Mbytes.
VOB number 4 contains 1 video , 2 audio and 4 subpicture streams.
PTM of first video frame = 00001518
PTM of last video frame = 0D5EF361
Duration = 0:41:32.457
H.264 (AVC) video stream 0 found!
First PTS = 00001518
Substream id = E2
Profile = High
Level = 4.1
Chroma format = 4:2:0 (l, c) = 8, 8 bit
Size = 1920x536
Aspect ratio = 1:1 (square samples)
Video format = NTSC
Time scale = 0 MHz
Frame rate = 62.467 fps

I know it is probably 1080i content, but what should I do with the fps value in the avs script? Is there a way to encode it to a 23.976 fps video? Thanks.

All HD DVD/BD should be 23.976 (at least every disc i have seen so far is) what you will probably find is the EVO has a pull down flag, A couple of HD/BD's i have encoded had Pull Down flag's which when opened in TsRemuxR as a MKV show up as 29.97fps, after being recoded with mencoder it was at the correct 23.976.....

You other problem could be related to the age of EVODemux, last time it was updated was abotu 6 months ago.....

I would try eac3to and see what it reports the streams as, it has never failed me, and if all looks correct demux the streams with eac3to.

Thanks. I opened the EVO files from the planet earth HD-DVD by eac3to, and it tells me the video information as
h264/AVC 1080i 60/1.001 (16:9)
does that mean I can only recode it at 29.97 fps?

One of the movies i did recently showed the same thing, but after encoding with mencoder to h264 it applied a pulldown (automaticly withotu any options set) and the resulting file was 1080p @ 23.976fps
