View Full Version : Burning problem on jmicron+LG

Gannjunior
11th September 2008, 16:18
I've just update my burner buying a LG H55L 1.05 fw.
It seems to burn well, but i have a problem when i burn in UDF...just the burn begins, after a couple of seconds the burn fails. I report below the log of Nero 8.
I suspect there could be something wrong with the controller that is jmicron. The other components of my PC in signature.
thanks in advance.

ciao!

i have to specify the problem is if burn UDF (for example when i have to burn big files greater than 3gb). Other kinds of burns go fine...

Therein lies your problem.

sorry, what do you mean?

The problem is that you can't burn such large files that way.

Well, not with the kind of filesystem which is usually used when producing data DVDs, that is ISO9660 and/or Joliet extension ... when you have to write files greater than 2 GBytes (not 3, mind you GannJunior), than the only way you can do it is using an UDF filesystem.

If >3 GBytes files weren't supported by the software and/or writer, it should stop you *before* starting the burning phase, btw ...

@GannJunior: you can try with ImgBurn ... though I suspect some kind of hardware mulfunction/conflict (old and thouroughly used drive? DVDs of no certified quality or not very well compatible with the burner?).

CWR03,
if you try to burn a 3Gb files by "dvd (iso)" the same Nero tells you that you can't and that you have to burn it by "dvd (UDF)"...
And (answering to talen9) my previous 2 years old burner, - that i use until last month - that was a samsung SH-S162L, burned file larger than 3gb in UDF mode without any problem.

I will try too ImgBurn, but it always worked using Nero...i don't know, it sounds me strange...
My DVDs are always the best: Verbatim superazo+ (MCC or TY). Think that i bought this LG since it's able to write at 20x my 16x verbatim. And it does! and i checked the writing graph that is good!

ciao!

Sorry, nothing helpfull, but I must take this opportunity to bad-mouth the Jmicron controller. Its a buggy piece of junk used to graft obsolete ports onto a modern southbridge. And it slows down your boot, too.

My Abit mainboard has one. At first all I had plugged in was my two optical drives. But it became such a pain in the ass that I went out and bought new SATA burners, just so I could disable the Jmicron chip.

@Gannjunior

Hi!if you try to burn a 3Gb files by "dvd (iso)" the same Nero tells you that you can't and that you have to burn it by "dvd (UDF)"...Try scrolling down to and selecting the LAST left-side icon in NERO - "UDF-ISO"...
