I have an MKV file that I want to play on my Playstation 3. Normally I use mkv2vob, but this file is using the "MPEG-1 Audio layer 2" audio codec, which is not supported. The video is x264.

I've been trying to figure out how to convert this to play on my PS3, but can't get anything to work. What's a good way to achieve this? I want to avoid re-encoding the video. I was able to extract the video as an h264 file and the audio as an mp2 file, but I don't know how to put them back together. The programs I tried don't support h264.

Hi!but I don't know how to put them back together. The programs I tried don't support h264.Your statements are paradoxical - How did you create the original .MKV file, and why in the world did you include an .MP2 audiostream?

What is the content of the MKV and where did you get it?

The MKV is a recording from TV and came from a friend. I asked why the audio was .MP2 and this was his reply:

"hard to explain
i use dgindex to create a d2v project and also to extract the audio from the source
i guess it depend of the source ....cuz sometimes it give me an AC3 and sometimes a MP2
i just merge the audio file with my encoded video afterward"

I can put the files back together as an mkv file without issue, the problem is that I need as an MPG or AVI file.

The MKV is a recording from TV and came from a friend. That's a violation of forum rule 6. Your friend cannot distribute copies of copyrighted material and you cannot receive them. Thread closed.
