I need help with converting my DVDs. From what I've read, an NTSC DVD frame is 720x480 and runs at 29.97 Hz. The Zune, while it can store the video in this resolution and display it to a TV, has an LCD that displays 320x240 (@30Hz?).
Now, taking into account that most movies have an aspect ratio of 1.85:1, the actual DVD movie size is about 720x389.
So I can crop the sides and lose a chunk of video or letterbox it and have a tiny video to watch. I decided to crop my DVDs since the Zune screen is already small enough. The scaled down 440x240 image will be cropped to 320x240. Do I have everything calculated correctly here?
I think this can be done with DVD Shrink and VirtualDubMod right? Which codecs would I use, btw?
