Hi everybody, congratulation for this forum, very usefull, and thanks Derrow for your great IFOedit...
My problem is that I have to put the Video_TS.VOB and VTS_XX_0.VOB on my dvd-r if I want play it on my Sony DVP-7700, but sometimes these files are very big (for ex. on Shrek Italy are 700 MB) so I can't fit the film in the 4.3 GB.
My question is if my Sony player need the original Video_TS.vob and VTS_XX_0.vob files or I can make some fake files.
I hope someone know the answer, cause this player don't read DVD-RW:( so I can't try by myself.
Thanks everybody and sorry for my english.

Fake files won't work.
Either you figure out, which files you will need on the DVD-R, or you use IfoEdit to create new IFO files. But then no Menu will be available.
But anyway I would suggest to burn it to DVD-RW first, and test it on another settop player at your friend or in a big shop.
If it will play, then you can copy it to DVD-R, and it should play in your Sony player too.
PS: You may also borrow a DVD player in a video-loaning club. Well the loaning will cost you some bucks, but you won't be angry about have burning coasters ;)

Thank you very much for your reply Derrow (I'm so happy that was really you to answer me:p ), but I already use IFO edit to create new IFO files, to play just main movie and (eventually) rip out others languages (to preserve video quality and the AC3). Even if I do this, my Sony always need the 2 files Video_TS.VOB and VTS_XX_0.VOB, but the standalone players of my friends play the same dvd-r without problems. If I insert this two files, no problems on my Sony, if I dunno, the player recognize the format DVD, but refuse to play (error 13.00). So sometimes, when this two files are too big, I can fit a DVD9 on DVD5 even if I put just main movie and rip the others languages.
I can't prove on others players that read DVD-RW, cause even they play the dvd, I am not sure that my Sony too (in fact many players read the dvd-r without Video_TS.VOB and VTS_XX_0.VOB, Sony need this files).
So there's a way (in IFOedit) to make this two files? Are they really needed by my Sony or I make some mistakes when I create new IFO files?
I hope Derrow you can help me another time (and I hope to make you understand my problem....)
Thanks, Lerch.

Lerch you are correct, i have 2 SONY Stand alone DVD players and both have the same problem, they just won't play copied DVD's if you have created them yourself. If you used an image of a DVD5 movie then the'll work. It really seems that SONY Needs that VIDEO_TS.VOB file.
I tried to copy a small video_ts.vob file into the video_ts directory and in ifoedit i applied 'get VTS ...'. But then I get an error that the video_Ts.vob contains menu's and that the movies doesn't so he won't perform the task as it should.
Lerch have you found a sollution to your problem, please let met know

...at the time of this post, I was making the first steps in DVD-R copy...
The mistake was that I didn't put the empty AUDIO_TS folder. Only that. After my Sony play correctly all my DVD-R.
If you have other problems let me know.
Bye.

I had another problem with a Sony 325 player. I had created an empty menu in maestro, assigned first play og menu title to movie chapter one, but the sony player just said no disc when the disc was inserted. I then ripped the movie that I created in maestro in dvd decrypter, then moved on to ifoedit and checked the "create empty menu-tables" on create new ifo's" , and created new ifo files. With this procedure you don't get a video_ts.vob file, and the sony player could play the disc just fine. I've also seen the problem on a panasonic and a samsung player.
Best regards

It seems the problem and sollution with the sony dvd players is rather simple, you have to create an image of the files by using ImgTools. After that you just write them and that's it. Really strange I know, and I have no idea why the dvd's worked in all players except in sony. Wierd
