View Full Version : Problem backing up a movie

I was backing up Dharm and when DVDRB was done the backup had the sound stuttering or having a hard time matching the movie, this happens on my Toshiba player. What's weird is that on my LG and Oppo player it's reverse the problem, the sound is good but the picture shimmers.

Here's the log:

Seems more like a burning problem. What media are you using?
And update to the latest version.

I'd suggest you post the contents of your REBUILDER.INI file so we can see your settings. It sounds a lot like buffer overflows. Have you done any preprocessing or editing?

Curious what processor and operating system are you using? The entire process took almost 6 hours which is very long.

I also noted that you aborted the first attempt, why?

As jdobbs asked could you post your ini file?

I use only TY media and my computer is a Dell Dimension 4400. I did no preprocessing or editing
I tried to back up the movie again and it is exactly the same as the first backup. Here's the ini. file.

TatanScorp, try doing the encode again with a different encoder, say HC. Or even Procoder itself, but with frame-based encoding (not field-based). I've seen exactly what you described with an old LG standalone... sound being continuous but picture being jerky. There *may* be some other parameter involved. But for now re-encoding it differently should be your best bet.

vikas_lk,
I was thinking the same thing about changing settings in ProCoder. My last backup of Dharm I changed strict GOP control from off to on in the ECL ini. file but the DVD was still messed up. I will try again using your suggestion and will be back tomorrow with the results.

If there is a way to tell (I haven't used ProCoder in a while) see what the maximum encoding bitrate is. Also, what kind of audio is it (LPCM, AC3, DTS, MP2 and is what is the audio bitrate)?

Well I just finished backing up the movie again but this time with frame-based encoding(using ProCoder) instead of field based and the DVD plays fine in my players. I don't understand why out every couple hundred movies one or two only get messed up using field base encoding.
