View Full Version : playing ripped blu-ray in mplayer gives perfect audio but black screen

I wanted to take some screenshots from my Blu-ray of Blade Runner so I read up on it and discovered the best (if not only) way to do this was to rip it to my hard drive then play it in MPlayer. I ripped it with AnyDVD HD and played the m2ts in MPlayer and took some fantastic screenshots. About a week later I decided to take some more so I could rotate my desktop wallpaper every now and then but now when I play it in MPlayer I get a black screen but I can hear the audio clear as day in the background.
In my attempts to find a magic button or something, I enabled the Debug Console and I got this scrolling merrily up the screen...
ProcessInputError r:0x80004005=-2147467259 (keyframe: 1)
I thought maybe the rip had become corrupted or something so I ripped it again but the same thing happens.
Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it?
I'm running XP MCE and have an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600GT and 2GB RAM.
thanks

Hi!Is it possible that you've changed some setting(s) regarding your video card or other hardware - such as turning "Overlay" or "Hardware acceleration" on or off?

I can't think of any changes I made. I should have mentioned that I can play avi files and other formats with no problems.

Are you using a gui or running mplayer from the cammond line?

the gui version. here's my config...
## MPlayer Windows configuration
## It's better to leave this enabled on Windows, since the console is slow.
quiet=yes
## Frame dropping
#framedrop=yes
## drive letter of your DVD
#dvd-device=d:
## Uncomment this for AC-3 passthrough.
#afm=hwac3
## You can use the DirectX or OpenGL video output, default is directx.
#vo=directx
#vo=gl2
## video filtering and postprocessing
## eq is useful if your video card does not support video overlay.
#vf=pp,eq
#vf=eq,pp=lb/hb/vb
vf-add=screenshot
and my gui.config
priority = "normal"
vo_driver = "directx"
v_framedrop = "0"
vo_doublebuffering = "no"
vo_direct_render = "no"
ao_driver = "dsound"
ao_volnorm = "no"
softvol = "no"
ao_extra_stereo = "no"
ao_extra_stereo_coefficient = "1.000000"
delay = "0.000000"
dvd_device = "D:"
cdrom_device = "D:"
osd_level = "1"
cache = "no"
cache_size = "2048"
autosync = "no"
autosync_size = "0"
gui_skin = "Blue"
gui_main_pos_x = "741"
gui_main_pos_y = "1040"
gui_sub_pos_x = "66"
gui_sub_pos_y = "87"
sub_window = "yes"
console = "yes"
command line version doesn't work either :(

@Jumbles
You might try performing a "System Restore" back to the last time things were working properly...

I'd rather not do a system restore... the few times I've done one it's caused more problems than it's fixed.

Of course the choice is yours ;>}
I, on the other hand, have had very good success using "System Restore" on several occasions.
BTW - If you're intent on never using "System Restore", I believe you'll free up memory by turning it off...

I've left it running just in case I ever really need it... this isn't vital enough (close... but not quite)
