View Full Version : Questions about DVD Remake

I have just discovered DvdReMake version 3.6.3.
It seems to do all I have been doing with PGCedit and VobBlanker, but with an easier interface for someone like me. Although the forcing of audio or sub-title streams is available only in the Pro version ($50) and is more easily (and reliably) done in PGCedit.
Before I consider buying DvdReMake, I have a few questions for those of you who know this pgm:
(1) what exactly does the 'Skip blank frames' icon do (on Toolbar)?
(2) If it add Cmds to jump each group of blanked frames, then how?
(3) Do I need to click it every time, etc?
(4) It is different from the Auto Bypass setting under Options, which I guess adds a pre-Cmd to jump each blanked PGC. Correct?
The Pgm looks neat, but I need to assume it des all the right things behind the scenes! Can I?
Thanks

Please look in the DVDRMP help file.
Skip blank frames toggles the Skip Blank Frames option.
Certain discs that have a large number of PGC's or cells can degrade system performance when DvdReMake attempts to build its display items. To alleviate this problem, these options allow you to disable some of the more time-intensive display routines.
Skip blank frames at start
This setting affects the way the Blocks Preview in the Domain Content View and the PGC View work. When this option is enabled, each block will skip to a position where there is visible content.
It's a preview option.

Thanks. I knew about the 'Skip blank frames at Start' option, set under Tools.
It wasn't obvious to me that the 'Skip blank frames' button was related to this option. I thought it might be related to skipping over blanked cells/blocks, like the Auto Bypass, etc.
My confusion increased when I tried toggling it on/off and it made no difference! There was one initial block (chapter) in the mainTitle that had about 6 VOBUs of black frames. Its block always showed the first non-black frame and the Preview window always opened at this non-black frame. On toggling the button, I refreshed the view by selecting another domain and then returned: no change!? Maybe a bug?
In any case, I now know what it means.
So, Thanks again Les.

Another question or two about DVD Remake Pro.
(necessary because the manual merely gives basic info and is out of date)
(1) I tried R-click > Remove Navigation and all pre- and post-Cmds were deleted. So what happens? Does play freeze when it gets to this PGC or is it skipped? What is this feature for?
(2) My initial reason for thinking about getting the Pro version is my need to force audio and sub-pic streams once all others are deleted. To give myself a clue, I forced an audio stream in PGCedit and opened the project in DVD Remake to find Audio = 0 (track 0). A R-click offered Edit Cmd, etc. So, am I right in thinking all I need do is (1) 'Insert Cmd' (2) select 'System Set Instruction', 'Set audio/subPic/angle' and tick some boxes?
If so, all is easy!
In time I might be able to find other uses for Pro.
Hope someone can help me out by answering these questions with some detail.
I tried to enter the CDRzone forum but I couldn't get past the log in?
Thanks

Remove nav is exactly that - no commands. When you encounter such a PGC and have no commands, the DVD dead stops.
