Is there anyway to set the Avg Bit Rate for a 2 pass? I find it annoying needing to Calculate the end size based on the length of the movie.

I looked and peeked around and it seems more setup for re-encoding for CD's or multiple of CD's.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Nope. You have 2 choices; set it up for 2-passes and a defined final filesize, or set it up for a defined quality and 1-pass. You could always work backwards and find the bitrate for a given file size, and adjust the filesize until you get the bitrate you want. Not such a bright idea, though, in my opinion. If the final size isn't all that important to you, then running target quality 1-passes is the way to go.

Not only annoying but often counterproductive as well, since the length of a movie and the filesize needed for a given quality don't correlate all that well. Much more important is the compressibility of the source.

You can use the original Gordian Knot to calculate the compressability and give you a rough idea of what filesize to use to achieve a bitrate.
