I am looking for a dvd player for a friend (since i only use a pc for watching tv, i have no idea what to look for:confused:). Basically all it needs to do is play dvds and 5.1 audio for ~$50-$150. I found this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882136154), but as i said since i don't use stand-alone players, i have no idea if the sound quality is horrid or anything. I don't even know if it is possible to find a decent dvd player with 5.1 speakers for that much.:) Sound quality is not too important as long as it is ok sounding. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks in Advance!

The review seems to indicate good quality 5.1 output regarding DVD playback. The price is remarkably low.
I seem to recall that a couple of years ago, all Coby products were pulled from retailers' shelves. Something to do with non-payment of royalties regarding the DVD logo.
I have no idea about the quality of the Coby DVD player that's included in the package - but if it proves to be no good, you've got room at the top end of your budget to purchase a higher quality DVD player and use the included one as a doorstop ;>}

from my experience, el cheapo dvd player will work just fine for a year or two, and they would support more formats than some main-stream brands..., in a year or two you wont want some other formats supported as well, so another el-cheapo can be used.

@setarip_old and smok3
Thanks.
Also does anyone know of a good dvd player that supports the Black, Green, and Orange audio connectors for 5.1 speakers (they are the kind used with computer speakers, although i don't know exactly what they are called)
