hi everybidy,

I have a collection of YouTube clips that I need to encode in very low MPEG-1 bit rate (500 kbps)

I was wondering if you could recommend the best filter for smoothing video artifacts in YOuTube clips for this kind of low bit rate encoding

TIA

dfttest()

Thanks, is this filter designed mostly for anime or will it work with film footage also ?

It works with both. You should also use the search button.... dfttest smooth's and is also a denoiser. If you want smoothing/sharpening, Limitedsharpenfaster is a good choice. An alt to dfttest is FFT3dFilter.

Sharpening might not be the best idea when you're encoding 500 kbps MPEG-1. At those low bitrates, it'll turn into a blockfest again.
