Hi guys, i can say the new era has started.

Badaboom beta2 is re-encoding to 720p PS3 file with 14-15 fps while the original is 1080p 24. (DXVA)

Even the profiles are limited yet; it is a good start.

You will find here 177.92 FW for nVidia and Badaboom trial:

and another test i hope they fixed some source input problems :D
tough 14-15 fps isn't really fast got 30 fps there with beta1 for 1080p H.264 (Casino Royale) bitstreams to 720p on my 8800 GT
the CPU utilization looks the same as for me around 30%

thats cool :)
wonder how good the ati program is compared to this one :)

CruNcher, i lived issues with beta1.
Re-encoding of long clips never been succeeded with beta1.

But this is working very well. :)

btw my GPU is 8600 GTS E6750 2GB/800 ram...

Tagert, Ati has to wait Cyberlink :)

Support for some web formats such as DIVX, WMV, and FLV have been removed from the accepted input formats but will be added in version 1.1.

Hehe if it doesn't work right remove it ;)

Phiiii I have about 12 fps in x264 CRF@22 on quad core 3Ghz . Besides x264 gives alot better quality than this. (baseline profile)

Yeah X264 is still better i doubt they updated the Core Engine here but you never know :) also it's easy to get X264 as fast as ETIs Encoder X264 is the most versaitaile Encoder exisiting you can get it from Ultrafast to Ultraslow and with some code modifications even faster then Ultrafast :P

hey guys,

nobody compared a baby with a mature man :)

Admit or not; some day this baby will growup :p

Admit or not; some day this baby will growup
yeah right... :) By that time I will have 8 core cpu :)

:) :) :) :) :) :)

What if they give the half of the job to your 4 core and give the remaining job to your GPU :)

Not bad, is it? :)

It looks like upscaled SD. Was source interlaced?

rica

No it was 23.976 1080p h264..

EDIT: This is the source:

Edit: sorry, the file is a little big for imageshack i think; btw my tv is 720p.

Not another GPU encoder / badaboom thread ....

HEre's another, and i've seen a badaboom-one to; http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=140385

GPU-encoding is really not up to the task of high quality encoding, and it wont be in a long time.

I see serious lost in horizontal resolution. It looks like badly deinterlaced source.

ouch. looks good to me for the resolution it was scaled to (720p)

What???? This screenshot has 800x450!?!? I don't see 1080p!

No it was 23.976 1080p h264..

With that bitrate, post a copy of the DVD upscaled, it probably looks better ;-p

What is the reason you guys waste your time on this?
Besides _possible_ speed, is there anything better than x264?

This is the simulation of Badaboom custom profile created by megui; just for wasting some more time :)

Guys, why not comparing those two identical files?

please stop spawning threads about GPU encoding...
there is also another one started some time ago and still open for discussion http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=136847
my personal (but not so much) opinion is GPU encoding is crap, actually. and by the time it will become mature it wont be so usefull. also there will be other and better solutions...

OK shark, i got it.

I just wanna take the comments on comparison of those files and you can close up after :)

well, im not a mod... so i cant close it. however, keeping the discussion in one thread will make the life easier for ppl searching for that info... that's it.
having multiple threads discussing the same thing will only create chaos and mayem for those ppl.

I hadn't noticed there is one more else, i've never spawned any thread on purpose.
I know you are not a mod btw, but you don't need to be :)

I see serious lost in horizontal resolution. It looks like badly deinterlaced source.

the blurry effect comes from the quantization see the input sharpness compare with the output a little post sharpening and voila Sharpness Psy Effect of the Input (or for X264 useing Psy-RD almost same effect) so either you move this to the Encoding side or Decoding side tough on the Encoding side it's easier to keep controll of it (per frame) on the Decoding side it's alot harder to find the right sharping strength for the current quantization lose :)

I continued my report about Badaboom here http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=136847&page=4 tough as i guesed in the Core of the Encoder nothing has changed from Beta1.

For the first Generation of a GPU Encoder ETI tough did a great Job imho and Cyberlink has to show now what they are capable of :)

Thanks, at least you admit.
