Hi, all!
I bumped into a problem with demuxing my DVDs(to strip, recode and remux them after demuxing).
For example, I demux my DVD by DVD Decrypter and I got these files:
VTS_01 - Stream Information.txt
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1 - 0x20 - Subtitle - English - [SP 01~ W-L] - DELAY 137240ms.SUB
VTS_01_1 - 0x21 - Subtitle - English - [SP 02~ W-L] - DELAY 137240ms.SUB
VTS_01_1 - 0x22 - Subtitle - Russian - [SP 03~ W-L] - DELAY 52680ms.SUB
VTS_01_1 - 0x29 - Subtitle - Russian - [SP 10~ W-L] - DELAY 52760ms.SUB
VTS_01_1 - 0x2C - Subtitle - Russian - [SP 13~ W-L] - DELAY 5080ms.SUB
VTS_01_1 - 0x80 - Audio - AC3 - 6ch - 48kHz - DRC - English - DELAY 0ms.AC3
VTS_01_1 - 0x81 - Audio - AC3 - 6ch - 48kHz - DRC - Russian - DELAY 0ms.AC3
VTS_01_1 - 0xE0 - Video - MPEG-2 - 720x576 (PAL) - 16~9 - Letterboxed.M2V

Then, to find out where is my mistake(which leads me to mistimed A/V) I muxing these tracks(audio and video only, without any changes - as they are) to Matroska container with help of mkvmergeGUI. Resulting *.mkv file already have mistiming though all soft-/hard-ware players do not have that mistiming while playing DVD as it is, which means that I've demuxed my DVD in incorrect way.
The question is: what have I done incorrect and which way is correct?
Thereby I have some newbie questions(I tried to find answers with Google and forum search, but... there are no similar problems). These questions are aimed at similar problems which could appear while ripping main movie from a lot of menus, ads, etc. such as mistiming, missing block of audio/video(which I could notice only if I'll watch movie from beginning to end) and so on.
There are a lot of programs supposedly to correctly rip movie from DVD, but some of them takes as input data only *.VOB. As far as I could understand, there are *.IFO which could contain some information, that could alter usual VOB by VOB playing. Am I right, if I consider those programs incorrect?
As all we know, in addition to VIDEO_TS.IFO there usually are VTS_*.IFO. Questions:
Could main movie been located in several VTS_XX? I mean, for example, could different parts of main movie been located in VTS_01.* and VTS_03.*?
If main movie could not been located in several VTS_XX, i.e. it could only been located in one VTS_XX, then, could VIDEO_TS.IFO affect usual playback?
My software player(it is MPC if it's matter), somehow knows that some DVDs' video should be deinterlaced and it knows which method should be used for it... How it knows?
Is there any program, that takes into account all peculiarities of DVD standards(both official and de-facto) and could demux DVD so that I will not be afraid of any mistiming or other problems after wasted day of processor time?
