Hi guys, I'm still new in the encoding world, but yesterday and today I spent all my time in reading about capturing, post-processing, encoding etc. I managed to achieve some good results, but can't find a good sharpen filter. I'm interested in sharpen filter, which can achieve something like this:

Note that how clear is delineation of the girl.
Well, I'm trying to achieve something like this. So I'll be very gratefull if you can recommend me some good sharpen filter, which can achieve that.
I already tryed Toon, but it's as if it doesn't do anything, at least I can't find a big difference. I have used command "strength=0.05", aslo tryed with 0.07-9, 0.1(and more far to 1), but again nothing good. I tryed FFT3DFilter, as well. And yeah, with it I managed to achieve a little bit more good results, but again not enough compared to the image above...
Oh, and sorry if the topic is not for here, but I couldn't find more correct section than this.

I personally don't find FFT3DFilter's sharpener to be that good.
Some others to look into:
limited sharpen faster (LSF)
msharpen
awarpsharp
Sure others can help as well. I think LSF is quite good (at least I've seen it used a lot).

try running the code of this first post, it seems to be able to handle just about anything.

Yeah fft3dfilter / gpu 's sharpening isn't so great.
SeeSaw is a personal favorite, I've never gotten results that make me happy from LimitedSharpen(Faster).
There's other choices :)

Correct me if I'm wrong Blue Misfit, but isn't Seesaw meant for live-action, and tends to not do well on animation? That was my impression.

That was also the impression I was under.
On the other hand, I thought that Seesaw was more for "putting the fuzz back on the peach" vs heavy duty sharpening. With limitedsharpenfaster, I can always turn the strength way up if I wanted to (not that I do).
I always thought of Seesaw as more of a detail enhancer. Yet, I haven't messed with it for a while, and so I could just not have played with it enough.

That looks as additionally to the sharpening, a line-darkening filter has been applied to. Anime usually doesn't have those pitch-black lines like cartoons do, so due to the lower contrast between the line and the surrounding it looks "unsharp" when compared with a picture exhibing that strong contrast (as the picture above)

Ah, I see. I didn't even knew for the existence of something like this... I always thought that effect is from sharpening, but it seems it's from line-darkening(however, that doesn't mean not to use sharpen filter). I already tryed some and liked vmtoon. Thanks to all people who wasted their time for me! :thanks:

If you like vmtoon, you should try Toon(), as it is an actual binary plugin, so it's faster.

Try my AntiAliasing function. By playing with parameters you can make it only sharpen the edges.

Toon() is great :) It's pretty darned fast and its line darkening is very nice to my eyes.
Depends.. I don't encode much animated content, anime or otherwise
