View Full Version : Evil source, need help with IsCombedTIVTC()

Right, so I have this really mean source. The field order changes every few frames or something else happens.

Well, nevermind. The only thing that matters is that on some combed frames, nnedi(field=0) creates a perfect frame while on some nnedi(field=1) works.

Can't just stack them as they mess up each other.

So I've come up with this:
orig=last
ConditionalFilter(nnedi(field=0).subtitle("nn 0",align=5),last,"IsCombedTIVTC()","=","true")
ConditionalFilter(orig.nnedi(field=1).subtitle("nn 1",align=5),last,"IsCombedTIVTC()","=","true")

The first ConditionalFilter checks for combing, of course, and tries nnedi(field=0).
If that doesn't work (as in, there's still combing), it's *supposed* to try nnedi(field=1)... the only problem is that after nnedi(field=0) works on those bad frames, IsCombedTIVTC() doesn't detect them as combed anymore.

I can't get it to detect them no matter which options I use.

And nope, subtitle() isn't doing any harm.. even without subtitle(), it doesn't detect it.

nnedi(field=0) (http://img1.hugeup.com/f/08102008/9ac67b.png) (which, if you run IsCombedTIVTC() on, is not detected as combed)
nnedi(field=1) (http://img1.hugeup.com/f/08102008/c8a0f49e7.png)

Pleeeeeeeease help me, I've spent ages playing with filters and now I'm finally close to a solution and it only works half the time :/

Post a link to an unprocessed stream sample. What good is a frame capture to us?

Well, I figured it wasn't necessary since I was wondering how to get IsCombedTIVTC() to detect it. With the frame capture, you can try to get IsCombedTIVTC() to detect it :p

But I'll upload a sample in a few min.

Okay, it was a bit (a lot) longer than a few min, but here it is :p

Looks like it's double hard telecined.

animeivtc(mode=2,aa=3)

It helped sometimes, but it's way too slow =\ I'll read what it does, maybe I can take only the important part :E
edit: Wow, it's so slow because all the filters run, even if they're only there for comparison... x_x

Where did you obtain this stream or how did you make it? I ask because it's an SD animation rendered in an HD format.

It's a capture from Chiba TV (Japan). It's pretty common for SD anime to be upscaled in Japan, and with CTC it also means they're going to destroy it in every way possible.

What is CTC and how did you capture it?

I thought maybe you weren't going that direction. CTC would be short for Chiba Television broadcasting Corporation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiba_Television_Broadcasting).
I've said this about 500 thousand times already, so I'll make it short...
Relatives in Japan. Lots of Japanophilia. Rare chance to buy a Friio (the CableCARD tuner equivalent of Japan).
Packaged an old laptop, mailed to relatives and paid them to buy a Friio.

Today: Recording my favorite anime :p

If you insist on doubting me, you can pick any show that's in or around the Chiba prefecture and I'll send you a small piece from a capture (same MPEG2-TS format)...
This is one thing I hate about doom9... people ask for help regarding American shows and nobody doubts them if they provide a sample, but just because this show is in a different part of the world somehow I've had people doubt me twice already. (the irony is that there are sceners among those people who are never doubted)

So, your relatives are capturing shows in Japan and sending them to you?

Sort of. It's more like I have VNC on the laptop and am capturing for myself. I wouldn't do it if I had to bother my uncle every single time :p

I'm assuming "such things" means people who weren't doubted... just go a few pages back, I believe there was a Pinky and the Brain thread, and some others. I don't really remember as I just got up and only slept 3 hours D;
I usually read those threads and usually, unless the person makes it obvious or hints in the general direction they got the source illegally, nobody says anything.
My general impression is that once you provide an unprocessed sample from DVD or TV or whatever it is, you're considered to be legitimate... I've rarely seen somebody doubted after providing a sample (and yet it's happened to me before). Of course I have also seen anime threads where nobody said anything, so I might just be unlucky.

I might link later, but it'll be a while because I have to go soon, come back, and then I'll probably be as energetic as a brick.

I don't really remember as I just got up and only slept 3 hours You whined about racist treatment and now you can't remember any incidents?

I didn't complain about racist treatment (I should have been clearer), I merely meant that it seems that anime is a lot more likely to be questioned than other content.
If you search my previous posts you'll find another thread where I've been questioned (it was more like openly accused, followed by a mod saying you should report people instead of just posting in the thread)

Please don't put it like that... understand that sleeping 3 hours coupled with the fact it happened over a month ago makes it hard to remember exactly what it was. Moreover, I thought you meant cases where American (I'm speaking in general - the style of TV shows, real movies, etc... not American as in America) threads weren't questioned, which is why I mentioned Pinky and the Brain.
I might dig it out later, though I'm not sure it's worth fighting over this thread anymore since it doesn't look like anybody can help anyway =\

A side note: one of my main motivations to buy a Friio was to have a legitimate source to ask questions with on doom9. What I'm doing is (probably?) legal according to fair use d;

If you search my previous posts you'll find... I'm not going to go searching the forum. You made a serious charge and when asked to cite examples, you just make excuses.

This is all OT for this thread and I'd like to take further discussion to PM.

Okay, I'll move to PM after this post.

I didn't make excuses. I said I would find it later, and anyway, this thread in itself coupled with the Pinky and the Brain thread is an example.
I asked you:
Please don't put it like that...
You know that they weren't excuses.

I also did not suggest you should go looking for it instead of me - coupled with the rest of my post, you *should* have interpreted that I'll search for it myself later (I did say it might not be worth it considering this thread is pretty much dead already, though it will probably affect your future decisions regarding threads of a similar nature, so...).
I meant that if you wanted to see it *now*, then you should search. The alternative would be waiting until I got around to searching for it (a day or so).

edit: Here is the thread previously mentioned: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1123362#post1123362
A "Japanese capper friend" in this case would be somebody I found through YouTube who uploads TV episodes to P2P networks. Since I was stuck, I went on YouTube and looked for people uploading the same anime. I pretty much sent a PM in Japanese to a ton of people and two replied. That snippet was from one of them.
