default decoder used when playing DVDs

I have vista installed and WMP11 seems it comes with its own decoder.

Can someone tell me what software I can used to find out the default decoder/codec used for playing video files in general (including DVD playback)? and how do I tell a software to use a different decoder? e.g. I got WMP11 installed and powerdvd. I want to tell WMP11 to use the powerdvd decoder. so maybe there's an 3rd-party software I can use to switch between decoder/codec?

To find out which filters are used by DirectShow to open a specific file use GraphEdit (http://rapidshare.com/files/136275092/graphedit_060303.zip.html) (I don't know where to get the newest version but this should be doing it)

Changing the priorization of filters can be done with RadLight Filter Manager (http://www.dvbviewer.com/griga/rlfm_bin1_6.zip).

RFM posted by sneaker_gen is easy to use. The gif above is a simple example of setting a higher merit for Nvidia's Purevideo Decoder. You can look for an entry for Cyberlink decoder in the same manner and set a higher merit value. Make sure to click the "Set Merit Value" button and then reboot for the change to take effect. To determine what codecs WMP11 is using right-click on the upper bar and follow the menu to the "Properties" page as illustrated below.

I am unsure on how to change default decoder using radlight.

Is it as easy as setting the merit?

Yes! And you don't have to fiddle with Graphedit at all. Very straightfoward!
