For encoding with DivX H.264 you need to put into \exe\encoder both DivX264.exe and h264vout.001

Hi there !

i have a bug here (was already in B12 but not in AutoMKV 0.95C)

I choose Constant_Quality.xml profile
When i try to encode a movie using 'Start Encoding' button, it's all good! (one pass encoding)
When i enqueue 2 movies and i start the process with 'Start Queue' button it's not good! (2-pass encoding for each process in queue)
Don't hesitate to ask for some more details or file of course !

2. I got a new PC and I just copied the AutoMKV folder from my old to my new PC. Now every encode ends with Normalice() ... FINISHED JOBS...

I queued up a job to encode a dvd using the popcorn hour profile, and for audio 1, had it copy the original DTS audio track.

The muxing failed because it apparently tried to convert the dts track to flac, here is the output from the log

I think i found a bug: Only the first file in queue is processed, AutoMKV then quits itself.

Still no burned IDX/SUB's. When "Burn Subtitle" is used with an IDX/SUB it muxes the subs into the MKV rather than rendering them into the video. Here is the log from my recent try with Beta 13:

I've been away for awhile, so I don't know the history of your problem, but I wonder if you're having the same issue I am. I was trying to encode SW Ep I, and I noticed a problem with the subs. At first, I thought they were not visible (and some of them aren't). But then, I realized that some were partially visible, but just barely detectable. I think it has something to do with the fact that on the DVD, the subtitles are designed to fade in and out. The only thing I've tried thus far is to do a batch prep and then edit the .idx DVD color palette to mimic a set of subtitles that is visible. However, this didn't work, so I'm still looking for a fix. Does it sound like we might have a similar problem here?

xvid don't seem to work. I always get a break message and it will use ffmpeg to encode the video to xvid.

Still no burned IDX/SUB's. When "Burn Subtitle" is used with an IDX/SUB it muxes the subs into the MKV rather than rendering them into the video. Here is the log from my recent try with Beta 13:

I know they're being loaded. I saw that in the log. But I'm telling AutoMKV to burn the subtitles, which it's NOT doing. It's muxing the subtitles as a separate subtitle stream in the mkv rather than doing what I'm telling it to do and burn the subtitles.

No, that sounds different. The problem I'm having is that the built-in subtitle ripper doesn't get the times right on some movies. Particularly all the Star Wars movies but there are more. So I used a different program to rip the subs and ensured the correct times are in there.

Then I loaded those subs into AutoMKV, which I know it did, and instructed it to burn the subtitles into the video. Which it did not do. It instead muxed the subs into the mkv as a separate stream but did NOT burn the subtitles as I'd instructed. This worked in the old AutoMKV. I did that at least once.

The AutoMKV beta will burn subtitles when they are part of the original DVD vob but not when they are a separate IDX/SUB files.

I see. Actually, not having the proper times might be my real problem, considering we are working with the same source material. If VobSub is trying to pull out the image at the wrong time point, it just might be grabbing an early faded version of the text (or none at all).

What was the other program you used to rip the subs? I would like to see if that solves my problem.

I downloaded VobSub, and used the VobSub Configure program to rip the subs.

I'm exploring different avenues now. I tried muxing everything into an mkv without success. AutoMKV won't recognize the subtitle stream from the mkv.

If AutoMKV properly handles subs when they're in the VOB structure, could you remux a VOB with the corrected subtitles and then process that with AutoMKV?

That's what I'm attempting to do but I don't find any tools short of professional (i.e. not free) tools that will do that. I even tried to use Nero Vision that I do own but it doesn't seem to do subtitles. So I'm kind of at a loss.

There's something wrong with vsrip as it does not always get the times right. Not sure what that would be and I don't actually find many (read any) other tools out there. Vsrip hasn't been updated in years and probably never will be.

The crux of my problem is that VSRip doesn't work correctly all the time. Sometimes it gets incorrect or invalid subs and as a result they display at the wrong times. To see what I'm dealing with here are the two sets of files from a bad rip with VSRip and a good rip with VobSub.

It appears that the subs themselves are exactly the same but notice how the file locations are the same but the times are different. Something just isn't right with the rips that VSRip is giving on some movies.

This wouldn't be such a huge problem if it weren't coupled with the current inability to burn IDX/SUB's.

That's strange. SW Ep IV worked just fine for me. Of course, I wasn't trying to burn the subs into the video stream, though, but they appear at the correct times. Also, I'm still using AutoMKV beta10... not that that should make much difference. I wonder what else could be different between our setups.


On another topic, I do have a different problem with Ep IV; somewhere just after the start of Ch 28, the sound (AC3 original) desyncs to about .5 s before the encoded video (x264). I suspect that this is some misreading of the VOB info, but I'm not sure. The only other time I had a similar problem was with a few episodes of a TV DVD set, but the sound was offset at a "break" where I could resolve it by entering a 'silence' gap into already existing 'silence'. I really don't have the same option here without making an obvious disruption to the film experience.

Has anyone ever encountered a midstream a/v desync after encoding? If so, how did you resolve it (besides a brute force resync)?

BHH, what do I check for avisynth, ffdshow, xvid, and haali media splitter? After recent tests, I found that only the hybridfupp resize filters don't work. All the other filters (simple resize, bicubic, etc) works. Also, on my computer, AutoMKV0.96 b12 works for all the filters but the b13 works for all except the 4 hybridfupp filters.

I don't see it starting (my eyes are speaking), i first see DGindex.

But i tried something : replacing vobsub.dll with some other file.dll and AutoMKV complains about not finding 'Configure' routine (so i think it loads the dll ;) )
I also tried with a vobsub.dll that i found on the net and i get rundll32 error message.

I use the constant_quality.xml profile with .mkv output, all audio copy and all subs copy, no deinterlace, and anamorphic encoding, and running Vista OS.

I recently moved from .95c (which works fine) to .96b13 and I encountered an issue (same with .96b12).
Automkv crashes after it has created the .mkv file but just before it deletes the queue*.ini.
I tried different combinations of just about everything to no avail.
I tried .96b13 on three diffrent machines (all using XP SP2) and they all crash at the same point.

Ok, tried it. It got rid of the muxed subtitles when "burn subtitles" is checked but they're still not burned into the video.

On a slightly different note I've noticed that vsrip is no longer running when it's supposed to.

It was possible in b12 to select both MVdegrain1 and MVdegrain2 -- I'd like that functionality back.

yes, queue is a totally MESS (and i haven't argue of cause.. since it appear as a memory fault on debugger)

Oh tell me it isnt so! It's a shame beacause everything is faster with .96 and end quality is better too. You have a marvel of a program with automvk and you always work so hard and diligently on it. Thank you.

Somebody that knows basic please help buzzqw exorcise the queue! Its been an issue since AutoMKV 0.23 and keeps breaking at every version. By now the poor man is almost bald. Please save the hair he has left!

First try of the AutoMKV096b13-tad2.exe build : it works! VobSub was launched and i got the .idx and .sub files in the temp directory.
I'll try tonight with my StarWars III dvd which always ends up with messy subtitles with vsrip.

Ok, vobsub is running now and ripping the subs as it should. But for some reason I can't get it to burn them into the video. I've even registered the vsfilter.dll in Windows to no avail.

I see that the idx file is in the avs but for some reason it's not rendering it in the video. Any ideas?

Just as a test I sent the same video through both 0.95 and 0.96 beta 13. The old version burns the subtitles as it's supposed to while the new version does not.

Yea, I don't know. Maybe something has changed in the newer versions of x264 that's preventing avisynth from doing the video overlay?

I don't know if it would help but here are the two avs scripts. Other than the added filters in the new version I don't see any difference between the two.:confused:
