With all these new HC options such as AQ, is there away to test small segments of video with the various options? I'd like to play with them and see what difference it makes to the video but don't really want to spend time doing a full encode each time (I'm sort of thinking that it would grab 30 seconds every 10 or 20 to give you an idea of the final encode). It would also be cool if you could burn several tests to a DVD-RW to test on the big TV screen. I thought there was a third party a while ago that did something like this?

Perhaps you are thinking of Rockas' Matrix Editor? This enables you to do small encodes with different matrices and settings. But it is just as easy to extract a segment or 2 with something like DVD Shrink in re-author mode run HC's GUI with whatever settings you like to see the result (of course, you will need to input max bitrate and average bitrate - but this can be done from a preparation of the full project in DVDRB first).

Arh, I was thinking of the Matrix Editor (is that still in use by people? Is it still being updated?). Thanks for the tip about DVD Shrink. I guess I was hoping for something like an updated matrix editor but I guess it will do for now!
