Any alternative to DVD Decrypter in IFO mode (or is this a settings problem?)

I have been converting my DVD collection to h.264 MKVs using StaxRip but have been having audio sync issues with a lot of them. My workflow is something like this...

1. First I rip the movie to an ISO with DVDFab (latest version). Usually just the main movie but I have tried this with the full disk as well.
2. Use DVD Decrypter to extract the main PCG (I hope I am getting the terminology correct here) in IFO mode to the HDD. This also generates 2 text files that contain chapter information and stream information.
3. Process the movie through StaxRip.

I really like the way StaxRip labels the audio & video streams in the MKV and finds the chapter file automatically. I'm guessing this is done by looking for the text files created by DVD Decrypter. Unfortunately I believe DVD Decrypter is causing my audio sync issues.

I have been using ChapterXTractor to generate chapter information, but is there anything out there to generate stream info or could someone point me in the direction to get DVDFab & DVD Decrypter working together?

StaxRip doesn't read the text file created by DVD Decrypter, it reads the info from the IFO file. You could rip files instead of ISO, players and DVD applications can read DVD folders so there is no need to rip ISO. PGCDemux, DVD Shrink or vStrip GUI can extract a PCG from a DVD folder but often there are still cells causing sync issues. vStrip GUI can disable the cells and DVD Shrink supports cutting using start and end point, cutting the studio intro often solves the sync issues, if you don't care about subs you can also cut using DGIndex, maybe easiest way.

But beware also of badly mastered DVDs with audio delays outside spec (there are plenty of these around) and also DVDs with advanced protection with tiny cells which can also cause sync issues.

Try setting dvd decrypter to split files by cellid. You might find some 'blank' vobs at the beginning of the movie. Ive found that these consistently cause audio sync issues. Delete them, and only index the ones that contain data for the movie.

Thanks Stax, that's exactly the info I needed. From withing DVDFab I am able to save IFO files to the folder where the DVD was ripped to. That along with ChapterXTractor and I am golden.
