Problem with Video Out from Capture Card to TV

Hi All

Hope I've got the right forum - didn't know where else to put it because it is not a capture question per se

I have a Miro DC 30 plus capture card. I want to use the rca video-out from the card to my rca video-in on my TV but I can't get it to work - there is no picture

I tried setting my monitor resolution to 640x480 then tried using MPlayer and MPlayerClassic to play a 640x480 avi clip.
Do I need some special software for this?

Usually a "capture card" (TV card) only has an RCA input connector to capture from. You cannot connect a TV there!

So unless your TV has got a VGA or DVI/HDMI input connector, you must plug it to the "TV Out" of your graphics card. Usually that is a S-Video or RCA output connector.

The miro series were pretty high-end capture cards back in the day, they definitely had outputs for monitoring (normally composite and svideo).

AFAIK miro's video out can only be used by premiere or the software that comes with the card. It won't work with other media players.

The miro was a great piece of hardware (onboard jpeg encoder, direct transfer to video card overlay) but it's well and truly past it now. These days you can buy a usb capture dongle for around $50 (IIRC the miro was $800), every pc can easily do mjpeg in realtime and it's hard to find a graphics card without tv out.
