TMPGEnc sound out of sync

Hi,

I'm a longtime TMPGEnc XPress user, it has been quite some time that I last used this program, but when I now want to convert movies (AVI, MKV) to DVD, while editing (adding subs) the video and audio go out of sync.

I expect some other tool, I installed a bunch of stuff, StaxRip, Avi2DVD, megui.... has changed something in the way the sound gets routed, I'm not a pro.

When I open the AVI in GraphEdit,

The video part is routed like this :

Avi -> Avi Splitter -> ffdShow Video Decoder (rev: 1349) -> Video Renderer.

The Audio part is routed like this :

Avi -> Avi Splitter -> MPEG Layer-3 Decoder (v1.5 build 50, Fraunhofer) -> Default DirectSound Device.


Please, does anyone have an idea what the problem is ?:helpful:

First question: where did you get those AVI/MKV?

Second question: is the AVI/MKV audio in sync?

Third question: have you tried other all-in-one dvd converter? Maybe free like FAVC or AVStoDVD?

Hi MrC,

1) I created these some years ago from some French movie DVD's without subtitles, I sold them on Ebay, but I still got the .AVI files, I was trying out converters then, I also created MKV files from them, and they play perfectly fine in MPC and KMPlayer.
2) They play perfectly fine in MPC and KMPlayer.
3) I tried FAVC but I bought Xpress because of the option to synchronize text, changing their beginning and length. I recreated my French movies about a year ago using Xpress, and then all was fine, I could drag the timer box anywhere I wanted and when I clicked play or selected a subtitle and clicked play, the movies payed perfectly fine in sync, but now some months later It doesn't work anymore.:confused:

I have done it before, but the DVD images were on crappy DVD-R's from Commodore, and ALL of them have reading errors after about 1 year. Therefor I wanted to recreate the images.

1) I leave the mods decide if your behaviour is against forum rules
2) OK
3) Using FAVC, audio and video are in sync? In any case, to preserve quality, I would use FAVC/AVStoDVD to make the conversion AVI->MPEG2 and then feed TMPG with the DVD srtucture created before.

If you don't own the DVD, even if you once did, you're violating copyright by keeping copies of it.
