Hi guys,
I want to do progressive download 1080p @ 8mbps (25mbps max). I want to achieve as close to transparency as possible, granted it's not going to be perfect in all cases.
Ideally, I would like the bitrate for the first section of the movie to bit a bit lower - so the first few minutes would download quickly. Would adjusting the curves be the best way to achieve this goal?
I will of course be using high profile x264, with Psy-RDO and VAQ. My settings so far are sub-me 6, b-rdo, 8x8dct, and me umh.
I'm guessing deblocking 0,0 would be the best bet. What other settings could I tweak to boost quality? Encoding speed isn't much of an issue, but I'd like to avoid silly things like exhaustive search.
If it matters, I'll be muxing into a transport stream with AC3 audio.
My sources will either be 25mbps H.264 / VC1 or 15-30mbps MPEG-2 - maybe something more exotic in the future like 80mbps QuickTime Photo JPEG. AviSynth filtering will be done on a case-per case basis...
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated!
