undersized dvd

hi
ive used cce 2.50 and free dvd rebuilder to back up my dvds for a long time now with no problem,untill now.i have a 4.60 dvdr all extras stripped and extra audios!
when im running it through rebuilder its giving me an output of 4.06 gig,this has never happend before,and i have changed no settings,its happening on 2 machines.i also have a second dvd f 4.63 gig and it only giving me an output of 3.42 gig
anyone know what could be the problem ?

this is from a dvd that is 4.86 gig with extras striped
i tried with dvd decrypter and dvdfab
im still getting an output size of 3,707,064 KB when doing preperation

whats going wrong this has never happend to me before,now its happend with 2 dvds im getting frustrated :(

It's likely encoder saturation. CCE 2.50 hits a limit at which it believes the output is essentially perfect (based on the matrix in use) and then it won't add additional bits in order to get to the specified bitrate. The results are M2V files that are smaller than would be created if the bitrate were met. The good news is that you probably have as good a picture as possible, the only down side is that there is unused space on the output disc. Later versions of CCE include automatic quantization options that will change the matrix in use when the resulting quants warrant it.

You typically only see this on originals that weren't very large (or used uneeded bitrate) to begin with -- and it becomes even more likely when they are output as a movie-only encode.

im using cce sp 2.67 at the moment the i have kept the menus and subs and the dd5.1 audio total size is now 4.61 gig i also riped with dvd fab .this is happening with 2 dvds now both only turning out about about 4.02 gig, ive never had this problem ever they are PAL dvdr also,is their any other way to solve this,it just seems strange that its always been fine and now 2 dvds are been undersized

After the prepare phase, you could use the segment viewer and choose not to reencode certain segments.
