since im creating new HW presets for megui, i need to know if a series of files play back correctly on your cellphones or PDAs.
the file is an MP4 file and it requires a player able to playback AVC baseline 1.1 (encoded with x264) and AAC-LC (encoded with neroaacenc) in MP4 (coreplayer or realplayer can do that).
i need to know what device can play what file without frame drop or audio stuttering AND if the default installed media player can open the files or you needed to install another MP or any additional software.

Test the files in this order:

Level1.2 encode with AAC-HE (http://www.webalice.it/f.corriga/temp/cp-l12+he.mp4)
Level1.1 encode with AAC-HE (http://www.webalice.it/f.corriga/temp/cp-l11+he.mp4)
Level1.0 encode with AAC-LC (http://www.webalice.it/f.corriga/temp/cp-l10+lc.mp4)

Plays fine on E65(@ ~206Mhz iirc), using coreplayer.

e65 should be almost identical to N73 for decoding.
i was told SE cellphones support only level 1b so, since x264 does support only level 1.0 and 1.1+ we have no options for 1b.
so i will create 3 profiles for cellphones/PDAs using level 1.0 for devices which support level 1.0 and 1b (like nokia N70 and SE phones), level 1.1 for devices (like N73 and e65) that support that level and level 1.2 but only with AAC-LC and a third profile @ level 1.2 for devices (like nokia N95) that supports lev 1.2 with AAC-HE.

It plays on the default media player in my Nokia N78 (S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2).

That's quite obvious coz n78 has a faster CPU (almost twice) than n73 but thanx anyway for reporting.
i will post ASAP another encoding with higher level (1.2) and bitrate to test on your phone.
what do you think of the 3 presets idea?

I think the 3 preset idea is a good one. Do they come with bitrate recommendations? Have you looked at the technical documents at the Nokia (http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/47cc7ad7-eb00-4bc3-836a-bcf0ebdea51a/Multimedia_Framework_Architecture_in_S60_Devices_v1_1_en.pdf.html) website? I'm sure you know that stuff already, though.

they'll come with almost the max bitrate allowed per level (64kbps for 1.0, 192kbps for 1.1 and 384kbps for 1.2)... subject to changes... expecially lev 1.2 (lower bitrate)

Please remember that coreplayer can now decode HE AAC. Also you might want to make a profile for advanced PDA's since they have pretty decent processing power now and can handle a lot more than a cell phone. I have such a PDA and would be willing to test what ever you want.
