Ok i follow doom9's guide perfectly up till ReMPEG, i make the cffl file, load it reads it fine, slide the slider, select resolution, check match source, hit encode, then the log shows

transcoding started...
setting up VBR-controller using selected options...
pass 1...
decoder thread started...
encoder thread started...
decoder done...

and thats it, it then does nothing, let it go alnight thinking it might just appear to be doing nothing, but i wake up and it is still in the same place and all i have is a 1kb file with no extension,.

What am I doing wrong? I'm following the guide on the site

How about we try to make a full single VOB file like the guy says in the forum? I have NTFS ill try it.

Strange phenomen.

I've a P4, and using Win2000.

Well sometimes ReMPEG2 crashes, or just hang's at the last frame,
but in the end I'm able to use it very well for transcoding my DVDs.

Makign the list file dosn't seem to work. After i used filemerger to merge my VOBs rempeg Worked GREAT and i dont think its that slow either, 9 HOurs to encode 740x480 84% reduction of The Matrix R1!!!! I hope it burns now!

Try using smartripper "stream processing" to extract the video and audio into their own separate files directly.

"Check" the stream processing tab, then select the video stream you want to ReMPEG2 (it's usually 0xE0). Then on the right side of the window select "Demux to extra file".

Uncheck the rest of the streams on the list.

When you finish ripping, you'll end up with a vob file that doesn't have the video stream. Infact the vob should be 0 length. But you will have a M2V file (video only mpeg2). This you can load directly into ReMPEG.

Watch out on windows95/98/ME because this method WON'T split the output of this file (4GB limit)

If you want, you can also "check" the audio stream (usually 0x80) and this will produce a single ac3 file that you can convert from AC3 to MP2. (assuming you're making an SVCD)

The filename of the ac3 will contain the sync delay (+/-) for the audio and video streams. BONUS!!!!!

hanging on the last frame....

It used to do this all the time until I stopped changing the process priority to High. Since I stopped touching that, it hasn't done it once.

Ok, figured it out.

Running WinXPPro, Pentium 4 1.5gigahertz

In the "CFFL" file, you have to put FULL directories, like below:

CFFL
d:\DVD Ripper\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB
d:\DVD Ripper\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_2.VOB
d:\DVD Ripper\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_3.VOB
d:\DVD Ripper\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_4.VOB
d:\DVD Ripper\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_5.VOB
d:\DVD Ripper\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_6.VOB

After I did this, it works just fine. With the exception of taking 8+ hours! :scared:

Hi!

i know this problem about ReMPEG and i had solved this problem with NTFS. I even tried Win 2000 without NTFS but it hasn`t worked.
Since i formatted NTFS Rempeg works fine.

I'm also using Megui, loaded 1 VOB with d2v creator tool,
st it up to queu and started the job.
1 hour already, and it seems to do nothing?????????????????
The VOB = 230MB

I ctrl-alt-del to see what the F dgindex is doing, but the processor time is "0"

So .. does it do ANYTHING??????
