a. simply register and start typing, or make your suggestions here, curently i'am with 'Table of Contents' - less is better.

b. entire flat-file database will be available for download (i will try to make a proper cron for this), so if i run away, this can be replanted to some other wiki on some other url (so no fear of your content to disappear).
c. general guide: entire thing should be targeted at 'practical usage' and not so much at encoding theory, provide examples where possible. Try to stay in x264 namespace.
d. in case of problems with wiki, post your problems/suggestions in this thread

x264.com is being created and IMHO a wiki like yours could be a great idea to be in the official website.

Any reason to create a new site rather than use one of the existing wikis? Not to blow my own trumpet too hard, but MeWiki (http://mewiki.project357.com) is open for any guides/tutorials /things like this. It's not just for MeGUI stuff anymore :) I have a semi-complete x264 Settings (http://mewiki.project357.com/wiki/X264_Settings) reference, but having an accompanying 'Practical Guide' would be very useful. Since it's MediaWiki, anyone can export pages as they wish.

sharktooth: flat database should be easily portable to a new location (that is my plan anyway, to make database available)

i meant dont waste money in registering a domain for your wiki.
there are already other domains, including the official one and mewiki.
