DVDR Recording Fuzzy Video

My Panasonic DVDR is sometimes recording parts of what I have it set to record with good audio but the video either going blank to a gray screen or where the audio goes out and the video looks like a fully fuzzied out picture.

I'm using brand new TDK DVD+RW 4X media.

Any ideas why I may be getting these drop out sections?

Hi setarip,
Do some TV shows have a mechanism for whacking out a digital recording? I have never had a problem recording with a VHS. This happened on channel 4 NBC by the way.
