How 2 add auto-chapters to existing mkv ?

I would like to add chapters every 5 or 10 minutes to existing mkv files. What is the best way to go?

Re-encode and add chapters in the authoring process.

Re-encode? Why go through all that time and hassle for something that can be done by remuxing? Just create a chapter file in mmg (mkvmerge gui) with 5 or 10 minute separations, and remux each video with it.
