Does anyone know how to 'strip-out' a foreign language from a MKV file(720p), so that the resulting file
would be smaller? I don't mind the resulting file being MKV, AVI, or another format. I have and am
familiar with Virtual Dub, MKV2VOB, Video Cleaner(River Past), and AutoGK, but none of them seem to
have the ability to do what I want. Is it possible? Anyone know? If so, what (free/shareware)program? Thanks! :)

Use MKVextract to extract the streams you want and remux those streams using MKVmerge.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply. I downloaded 'MKVExtractGUI-1.6.4.1.zip', extracted the files and ran the
'MKVextractGUI.exe', it came back with 'missing mkvextract.exe and/or mkvmerge.exe', neither of which
were contained in the .zip file. I've tried renaming ' MKVextractGUI.exe' to 'MKVextract.exe, still got the same error msgs. Anyone out there familiar with this program and how to install it?

Ooops, responded too fast. I've downloaded the 'mkvtoolnix-unicode-2.2.0-setup.exe' for Win Vista, and it
seems to be working. Ok, it seems all I need is the toolkit...just tried this and it worked great...remuxed a
1.5GB in 2 mins! But it only shrank it by 50MB, just barely enough for my needs(trying to fit 3 1.5GB files on one DVD).

To fit 3 x 1.5gb on a DVDr is simple maths, you are gunna have to reencode to a lower bitrate.
Or a better idea... put 2 1.5gb files on a disc!

Simple maths? dat720 & tkmops:
DVD-R: 4 706 074 624 B = 4.3828 GiB / 3 files = 1.46096 GiB / a single file
so 50 MiB down should be enough...

Obviously if he could have fit the 3 files on the disc he wouldn't have commented in such a way that he couldn't do it..... at least i would have gone that way!

@dat720
Hi!it only shrank it by 50MB, just barely enough for my needs(trying to fit 3 1.5GB files on one DVD).I would interpret this to mean that the 50MB reduction led to a successful DVD5 fit for "tkmops"...

Just use mkvmerge GUI to load each MKV, then remove the tick from each of the foreign audio tracks under Tracks, then press Start muxing to create a new MKV without these tracks.
