View Full Version : Media Player Classic crashing on opening

Hey all,

Media Player Classic seems to frequently crash when opening files on my PC.

The player opens, and then hangs, with the "Stop" button selected. I can't click anything, and have to kill it through the task manager.

The frequency is inconsistent, sometimes I can watch 10-20 videos in a row without any problems, sometimes only one before it locks.

Often, this will happen several times in a row. I can't duplicate or fix it on a reliable basis.

Ideas?

This problem may be related to Reclock filter. If you use it, try to disable and see if this happen again.

I don't use Reclock. I have in the past and had similar problems.

I didnt post in the official forum because it's massive, and rather difficult to keep track of issues :)

Thanks for the replies though, guys!

I think my problem stems from the Haali renderer. When I use EVR (on XP) it doesn't seem to crash. However, EVR doesn't let me adjust luma ranges :(.

Any other ideas?

For me the symptom sounds like a Directshow coused overflow debug your filter chain and see if a filter is couseing a loop, use process explorer to analyse the current running threads when it hangs.
