View Full Version : Avidemux produce clicks&pops on mp3 audio

I just found that after the edition of an avi file (xvid+mp3) the audio of the ouput file produced by avidemux contains clicks & pops in the parts where the video was edited. This happens no matter if I set avidemux to "copy" the audio stream or to recode the mp3, but if I set "copy" I get an aditional issue, an out of sync audio at the end of the video. Here is a sample of the 1st issue:

Capture from analog tv, no clics/pop in the audio, 9.5MB

File edited with avidemux (I cut parts of the video randomly in order that avidemux produce the issue), clics&pops in may parts of the audio, 2.6MB

I did the same test in Virtualdub and never got clicks or corrupt frames in the audio stream.

Thanx in advance for any help.

I can see the problem in your "edited" file :(

But I just converted your "source" file in Avidemux myself and the output looks perfectly fine
Well, except for the bad quality of the source video itself, but you really can't blame Avidemux for that :p

Here is my result, converted in Avidemux 2.4.2 Final:

Thanx for reply LoRd_MuldeR,

I've undertood that avidemux comes with all embeded (codecs, filters, tools...) so I can't imagine which other programs I can blame.

Probably your sample doesn't have any clicks because you didn't make any cutting on the source but only cropped and recoded the video . If I only do that I'll get a file without clicks too.

In the other hand my sample of 2.6MB have all those clicks because I edited/cut the file (I remove some parts of the video like if I was removing comercials at time to edit a tv program), and that's when the problem shows up.

The video source is 30sec, try removing 2sec every 5sec of video and then tell me if the problem appear.
The source is crappy because it's recorded with an old capture card from analog tv but I often grab many documentaries from there and one of the great things that I found in avidemux is the great collection of filters precisely to clean up this kind of videos (no money for a new capture card or digital tv by the moment :p)

Could anybody reproduce this issue? If yes, is there any solution?
