Hi robshot!

I posted my problem a few days ago but got no answer:

Perhaps you can solve the problem ;)

Your guide uses no resizing -> are the settings you propose for interlaced (film-)material also valid for SVCD-encoding with previous resizing?

What is your advise?

define with previous resizing. don't worry about giving too much detail because you can't ;)

In robshot's guide at http://www.robshot.com he only transcodes the input MPEG2-stream without any resizing.

For SVCD-production you're resizing the MPEG2-stream before encoding it with CCE and perhaps this destroys informations in an interlaced stream (e.g. the proper interlace-combing of lines of the different fields). Therefore it might not even be worth talking about coding in CCE with interlace activated as it doesn't get clean interlaced input.
Unfortunately I'm not a TV-scientist with an enormous knowledge in interlace-video-processing.

Perhaps there's a special interlace-resizing-method of seperating the fields, resize them and mux them together again?

my dvd2avi based cce guide will tell you how to properly resize and preserve the interlacing.. though in any case you should try to avoid encoding interlaced.. for ntsc force film or ivtc (decomb seems to becoming the best tool there), for pal, if it's truly interlaced (meaning you see it on screen, not the flag is set to interlaced), changing the field order helps.

I'm not sure if avisynth works properly with interlaced sources... try asking in the avisynth forum... virtualdub's resizer has a special mode for interlaced material (described in the guide I mentioned above)

i've been having trouble encoding an Interlaced PAL DVD to SVCD. In some scenes, big ugly blocks will appear on some areas. I've tried many different methods without success.
Any advice or method which i can try?
