In the MeGUI tracker, #1823035 refers to updating the denoisers. Fantastic! Could it be worthwhile to have a discussion on what appropriate updates would be. Could be an interesting conversation since this relies heavily on source material and personal tastes. Determining "generally appropriate" settings could be something the non-programmer community could work out for/with our developers.
Things to consider...
Offer a GPU accelerated options?
Manually select anime / real life footage?

I am currently working on improving the avisynth creator so that resizers/denoisers/deinterlacers/input filters are all available as profiles. This will mean that users can configure denoisers exactly as they want. Also, the profile system will ensure that, if plugins are required, they can be correctly exported using File->Export profile. When that is done and integrated into MeGUI, I expect that we will have distributions of avisynth profiles similar to the x264/XviD/audio profile distributions currently available on autoupdate. Everyone will certainly be encouraged to contribute to that.

Excellent! Look forward to continuing the conversation when this is implemented. Wanna give a little more idea of how you plan to do this? Is there going to be the already implemented encoding profiles, and then the new AviSynth profiles? Or are there going to be a resizer profile, denoiser profile, etc.?

It's already runnable for testing, but you'll have to be patient with the bugs. Have a look here (http://www.box.net/shared/au6hmm0g8c). You need to replace megui.exe in an existing install with the one provided in the bins zip file. You can find useful profiles in "avs profiles.zip" and "inputs.zip", which you can import using File->Import profiles.

I'll look into in more when I get back home. Thanks for the preview!
