Going insane.
I ripped an NTSC DVD (Fool's Gold), using AnyDVD and DVD Shrink (no re-compression), just the main movie. I indexed the four VOBs with DGIndex 1.5.0. It appears that the beginning of the movie is true 29.97fps, and the rest is telecined. DGIndex also warned me of a field order transition, which I opted to fix. Now, here's the problem. When playing the DVD in MPC-HC, I get a runtime of 1:52:22. It is in sync. When opening a basic DirectShowSource of the VOBs in AviSynth, the video is 200,248 frames long, with an fps of 5000000/166833 (1:51:21.595). One thing I noticed was that the video always started playing at 3 seconds in (as in, that's when it really started playing, I don't mean that it was black before that, I mean if I started from the beginning, it snapped to 3 seconds in and played). When I opened the indexed D2V with MPEG2Source, the video is now 202,237 frames long, with an fps of 30000/1001 (1:52:27.975 long). This means that the indexed video is about 1,989 frames longer, and 6.38 seconds longer. It gets crazier. The demuxed audio (which only had a minus 244ms delay), is apparently 1:52:25 long. When playing the video from the indexed D2V and using the AC3 audio, it was out of sync by about 2 seconds by my guesstimation, video ahead of the audio, and that appeared constant. When comparing the D2V to the DirectShowSource, it appears to be out-of-sync gradually. I can't find any big blank spaces.
This happens when using a Honor Pulldown Flags D2V, a Force Filmed D2V, whether or not I correct the field order transition, etc. Like I said, I'm going insane.
Uploaded a sample. It's rather big, 4 minutes 44 seconds, but I want to make sure it has both true 29.97fps and telecined parts.
