What tools for Blu-Ray -> x264 Transcode?

About to buy a BD-ROM drive to rip and backup some of my BD titles before they get scratched to hell by the crumb-crunchers. Planning on using AnyDVDHD for rip part. The new file format of the BD disc is foreign to me; I've been using x264-based GUI's for a long time to do DVD -> x264, but what is a good one-click or multi-click GUI for sending Blu-Ray to x264? Something that preserves the 5.1 sound and everything.

By the way is .MKV the "industry standard" container format now for x264 encodes of Blu-Ray sources? seems so.

Yes It is. This is the most flexible container at moment. File size has no limit (mp4 cannot be bigger than 4GB) , supports AC3 , DTS , AAC , MP3 and so on ..., Small overhead

by everything, if you mean : menu, chapters, multiple audio.. I don't think you will able to find one. ripbot264 is not able to do that.. Automkv let you choose 2 audio tracks, but I don,t know if you will be able to import chapters..

MP4 cannot be bigger than 4GB? That only applies to playback on a PS3 doesn't it?

No, actually all I'm ever interested in is the main movie plus one audio track (preferably the highest quality 5.1 track that's available). Life's too short to try and be an obsessive "collector type" trying transcode to x264 yet somehow preserve all menus and extras and junk - those types of people should just stick to the original physical BluRay disc!

I basically want to end up with a main-movie-only encode that's as CLOSE to lossless as possible (I guess that means encoding with "HQ_insane" encoder setting?) because at my main 65" screen size, believe it or not I actually *do* see macro-blocking on poor quality 1080p x264 encodes, whereas its less noticeable on my 50" screens.

You should use Level 4.1 profile compatible with DXVA and so on
