Hello, I am in the process of transferring my CD's to DVD audio. I don't want to upscale the information, just do a straight transfer.
My DVD audio player's laser has trouble reading CD's and to play DVD Video's I need to go into the menu so I only want DVD audio software.
Is there a simple free program I can use to do this. Discwelder seems too complicated to do this and I would prefer not to pay the $40 for DVD Audio Solo. Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Not gonna work. CD audio is 44,100Hz and DVD audio is 48,000Hz. So, convert to 48,000Hz WAV or AC3 audio, make yourself a 720x480/576 BMP still, load them both into Muxman (free), author to DVD and play in your standalone DVD player.

Hi!Holdit, I thought DVD accepted 44100Hz frequency?!44.1KHz is not part of the (Video) DVD standard.
Of course, you can burn Data DVDs containing anything you wish...

Well, maybe not. I decided to do some investigating, and true DVD-Audio can contain 44,100Hz WAV audio, like on the CDs. I know nothing about authoring those things, or even if that's really what daviddee has in mind. If he just has a regular old DVD player, then he'll have to author for DVD, perhaps as I described.
What's the difference between DVD-Audio discs and DVD-Music discs?
DVD-Music isn't actually an official DVD format, but it has become a commonly used name for a DVD-Video disc that contains primarily music. A DVD-Music disc plays in any standard DVD player with video or still pictures that accompany the audio. As explained in 1.12, a DVD-Audio disc contains special high-fidelity audio tracks that can only be played in DVD-Audio players.

LPCM is mandatory in DVD-Audio discs, with up to 6 channels at sample rates of 48/96/192 kHz (also 44.1/88.2/176.4 kHz) and sample sizes of 16/20/24 bits.

(referring to the audio component of DVD-Video, or also what he referred to earlier as DVD-Music) Linear PCM is uncompressed (lossless) digital audio, the same format used on CDs and most studio masters. It can be sampled at 48 or 96 kHz with 16, 20, or 24 bits/sample.

I was assuming that daviddee wanted to make a DVD-Video containing almost all music, but rereading his post I may be mistaken. He's not at all clear, though, I don't think, because he mentions the menu of a DVD-Video as if he's talking about a standard DVD player.
