Hi all.

ok, so it was possible to biuld a drf/framesize sheet for a divx311 encodes. the results were fluctuating slightly(possibly due to kf sizes), but in general it looked like that:

2x drf=100% framesize
3x drf=72-79% framesize
4x drf=62-66% framesize
5x drf=50-55% framesize
8x drf=35-39% framesize
16x drf=22-24% framesize

pairing that with nandub's drf selection it was possible to predict what kind of average drf will you get throughout the movie.

ie 75% first/second pass usually ends with 2.5 av drf. 66% - 3.0 av drf.

has anyone did the same research for divx4 codec? some ppl pointed me out that data is changing from version to version. is it true? and how does drf2x in divx311 compare with drf2x in divx4 bit-wise?

i still hope there are still smart ppl who are visiting this board and not the ones who feel themselves smart just reading dooms guide to ripping a couple of times :/ answer me damnit (j/k)

its quite easy to find this out by yourself as DivX4 will allow you to set quantizers in '1 Pass' encoding mode.

Simply set mQ = MQ = x and make an encoding. Rate control settings will not have an influence then as ther is nothing to set
