Adding voice-over to video captures...

Yes, I know this isnt really about Capturing video, more about Capturing audio... but I'm looking for a decent multi-directional microphone. Basically, I am looking for a microphone that will pick up everyone's voice in a small room.

Anyone know any good microphones? and prices?

I'm loving the Playstation3's Eye microphone, but it doesnt work correctly on the PC.

I'm using the Shure SM58 microphone for my video reviews. Does the job with good quality sound.

and that can pick up an entire room of people? It looks like this is a uni-directional microphone... I'm looking for a multi-directional that I can put in the middle of a room.

Look up 'PZM microphone'. You can fake one pretty well with an Omni Directional Lavalier mic. Just mount it as close as you can to a surface. I used to do that at the local Public Access TV station to shoot a live 'Soap Opera'.

However, I dont have any tables or space on my walls to mount it to. As well, these are all XLR connectors, and I need this to fit a Computer 1/8" TRS.

So will any of these microphones work for my sitation? My floor is carpetted.

I have no experience with any of those. The PZM I have is a discontinued Radio Shack model that I actually converted to balanced (XLR) output. You might find one on eBay. My other experience, as I said, was to use a small Lavelier mic attached as close as possible to a wall or tabletop, creating the boundary effect. Hard surfaces worked best for that technique. WikIpedia has a couple of links for more information on the Boundary effect and PZM mics.

I noticed that these mics are mono sound... or at least, I cant find any XLR to 1/8" TRS adaptors that are stereo.

I'm looking for a stereo omnidirectional microphone...
