Hi I am new but registered quite some time ago! I am hoping to get some easy to understand help and maybe some links to a step by step guide :)

I have a VHS PAL video tape (UK) which I would like to copy to a DVD. Is there a good complete guide for this process? I have a ATI Radeon X800 Pro VIVO video card which I think I can connect the VCR to.

Also assuming I have the video captured to my hard disk - it's using the dvsd codec DVC/DV Video according to gspot but in two parts both around 9.5Gb in size. Part1.avi and Part2.avi

What would be a good way to combine them into one DVD and also perform some cleanup and enhancement of these files? By cleanup I'ld like if possible to reduce salt/pepper type of errors and just try to make the video look as good and clean as possible.

Thanks for any help!

Part1.avi and Part2.avi You said you have a PAL VHS tape, and you imply that you haven't yet tried to capture it (you "think" your card can capture). So how did you make these DV files?

Hi, these two files were captured by my friend using his computer and video card. He used some freeware program which didn't have much to configure.

I was just wondering if I can clean these up somehow and also what would a good approach to do the entire thing myself i.e. to capture from the VCR via my video card and then cleaning it all up.

I don't really know much about compression/filters, though I can use programs like Premiere and VirtualDub. I can learn others if necessary.

VirtualDub will be your best bet for editing, assuming you have codec's to playback the files, as for the capturing, this will be a trail and error approach trying various packages till you find something that work's with your combo.....

VirtualDub can capture, maybe start there.

BTW did you notice the Capturing forum??? have a read around in there, there is over 3000 threads in there, your question's have most likely been answered.

Hi!

Would you please load one of the two .AVIs, captured by your friend, into GSpot and post a screen capture back here?
