I am going to make a DVD out of some camera footage. Unfortunately, I don't know for sure what camera brand it was, although it might have been an HDD-based JVC model. I don't know if the contents were extracted correctly though, as what I have is a bunch of .MOD and .MOI files. Now, the .MOD files are big and are reported as MPEG2 by ffdshow's video decoder, but the .MOI files seem not to be needed for playback and they occupy around 1KB.
What I need to know is what these . MOI files are, and while we're at it I wanted to ask if you knew of a freeware or cheap DVD authoring program where I could just load the .MOD files sequentially, put fadeins and fadeouts between the segments and be done with it, as reencoding the video seems not to be needed and a fancy menu system is not required either.
