I installed the fdshow tryout with mpeg2 and now I cant get vista's Media Center to play a DVD from a directory!
I uninstalled fddshow and still cant play it.
I want to try a codec cleaner and then re-install the vista codecs. Anyone know how to do this?

Unless you manually removed the standard codecs from Vista, they should still be installed/enabled. ffdshow does not remove or disable other codecs.

Open a VOB file in GraphStudio (http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/tools/monogram-graphstudio/)(Ctrl+R), show text info (Ctrl+T), post Level 1 report.
