I have a DVD that I would like to just backup the audio. I am sure there is a way to do it but not sure how. Any help in doing this would be greatly appreciated.

Demux the audio (e.g., with DGIndex) and then transcode it as needed (e.g., with BeSweet).

Hi!Even if it is a music DVD that I want to backup?Is it a conventional DVD of a musical performance, or is it a DVD-A?

I would say it is a conventional DVD from a boxed set. Would like to be able to back it up so I can listen to it in my car or home stereo.

Open the decrypted VOB in DGIndex. Set a project range to include the song. Demux the audio. Transcode it as desired.

@kess75
As an alternative to the methodology offered by "neuron2", try the following. It includes the decrypting step and will be successful with DVDs that contain only conventional ("CSS") copy protection:
1) Load your DVD
2) Set DVD Decrypter to "IFO" mode
3) DVD Decrypter should automatically highlight/select the main movie under the "Input" tab
4) Click on the "Stream Processing" tab and check "Enable stream processing"
5) UNcheck all of the videostreams and audiostreams OTHER THAN THE ONE YOU WISH TO EXTRACT - Then highlight the one you wish to extract.
6) Click on "Demux"
7) Click on the "Destination" icon and select the drive/folder location to save the audiostream to
8) Click on the "Decrypt" icon
Note - For an LPCM stereo audiostream, you may have to go to:
Tools>>Settings>>IFO Mode and increase the VOB size from 1Gb to 2Gb, in order to be sure to generate only one
.VOB for the entire audiostream

I suggested using a DGIndex range so that he can make an individual file per song, which is probably what he wants.

@neuron2
I understood your reasoning. (The same could be accomplished by selecting individual chapters under DVD Decrypter.)
I offered an alternative solution (as I'm wont to do as a result of my anal retentive nature ;>}), based on and limited to the specific choice of words by the O.P.I have a DVD that I would like to just backup the audio.

Sorry for the limited information. Was trying to keep the thread politically correct. It is a DVD from a boxed set. I would like to make a CD from the DVD with separate tracks but is not toatally necessary. So it can be done thru decrypter and have each song separated?
Thanks again for your help guys.

Yes, if as is typical, each song is a separate chapter - otherwise, you can use the method I intially described to rip the entire audiostream...

Thank you for the direction -
I backed up my first DVD audio with no problem - the new files were wave format, then today with another DVD the new files are Nero format and I can't do anything with them.
Can anyone help me get the backed up files back to wave?
Thanks again:confused:

Sorry -
They are AC3 files with VTS at the beginning of the title.

If you find the BeLight/BeSweet package too daunting, try PX3Convert.exe...
