Hello, I try to do my first DVD-Rip, but I have a big problem with noise. What filter I should use in my video?
This is my video with script.

Normally it's best to upload an unprocessed sample (i.e. a direct cut from the original VOB) and the script.
I don't see much noise, but the text has ringing around it.
Cheers,
David.

Yes, please trim a sample of the original source using DGIndex or some other application, and send it to us with no processing whatsoever applied.
There are lots of good denoising filters. I'm sure we can figure something out :)

Yeah, Thanks this is the link of DGindex.

Okay - so the good news is this title can easily be Force Film'd to 24p. Yay!
It also looks pretty clean. The chroma planes look nice, but the luma is a bit noisy (histogram(mode="luma") told me this)
colormatrix(mode="rec.709->rec.601")
fft3dfilter(sigma=1)
Toon()
gradfun2db(1.5)
seems to do nicely :)
Did you have a specific problem?

Well, I try to load plugin fft3dfilter in other script, but the plugin can't load in the script. I think that the filter can be corrupted.

nah, it's not corrupted.
How did you install the plugin?

Yeah. I read that I need fftw3.dll filter. So I download and try to load in the script. But now the error is this:
Plugin C:\Archivos de programa\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\fftw3_20040130\fftw3.dll is not an AviSynth 2.5 Plugin

Well, The script works, but the result is the same. I should use filte for smooth or noise?

fftw3.dll isn't an avisynth filter. just put it in your system32 folder and everything should work

Yes. I do that. But now the result is more good, but it has very noise.

I don't see very much noise in your source at all.
fft3dfiler is a denoise filter, and it can be very powerful. I configured it for low strength (sigma=1). If you want more strength, increase the sigma. Sane values are usually below 4.0, except in extreme cases.
It can also reveal / enhance banding that would otherwise be hidden (dithered) by noise. If you want to apply some dither after filtering, that's what Gradfun2db is for.
Toon() is a nice little filter that does some warpsharpening and line darkening (and maybe other things too, not sure - but I like its look)
I really don't see much noise in your sample though. Maybe show us a screenshot?

Thanks for explain me. And I think why my video has noise?.
And that is becase I encode with VirtualDubMod using FFDShow. So I do with Megui. And the result hasn't noise. but it has other problem. If I play in windos media player, the video has a little deforme line. But in Aegisub the line disappears. Can I take some picture of video with other program?.
PD: Saludos. Sorry for my English
:thanks:

Okay - a deformed line? Sounds like some cropping or rendering issue most likely.
What format did you encode to from MeGUI? If it's an AVI - drop it on VirtualDub and take screenshots from there. If something else (MP4 / MKV), try AviDemux.

Well, I play in other PCs but the line desapire. The DVD-Rip is good, but I think that it can be better.
So I upload tomorrow an you can see the mp4.

I don't understand these much but it seems that at every 4 or 5 frames you lost 1, probably wrong decimate. Try animeivtc(mode=1,aa=0) for hardtelecine or animeivtc(mode=2,aa=0) for doublehardtelecine, aa is antialiasingm you colud chouse from 0 whitch is no antialiassing and 3 witch is highest level of antialiassing. I'm not shure but i think that the decimation sould be made before the filtering.If you'l use animeivtc, FieldDeinterlace(full=true) is not required. In my opinion the image don't look natural, asharp probably. I'm a newbie to so don't be mad if i'm wrong. Best regards

In that case you need to update your Avisynth, you're use a verrrrry old one.

I'm curious as to why you're using AnimeIVTC? Force film worked perfectly fine for me! If you want anti-aliasing, you can do that without using AnimeIVTC!
And yes, do update to the latest 2.5.7 avisynth, and then (perhaps) install the modified DLL for multithreading.

Well, I try to put the text much better. This is the d2v snapshot:

Ant this is mp4 snapshot:

Edit: I have other question. the d2v have 29.970fps and when I encode to mp4 I lose some fps. So I try to keep the 29.970fps?

MPEG2Source("C:\Documents and Settings\PC 8\Mis documentos\VTS_01_1.demuxed.d2v",cpu=4,info=3)
crop(8,0,-8,-8)
FieldDeinterlace(full=true)
degrainmedian()
TemporalSoften(4, 4, 8, scenechange=30, mode=2)
asharp(2.5,4.5,0.25,hqbf=true)
Decimate()
colormatrix(mode="rec.709->rec.601")
FFT3DFILTER(sigma=3,bt=3,sharpen=1.0)
Toon()
gradfun2db(1.5)
is simply too much :)
Also, your source is 24p - so you can safely enable force film to recover the 24p from the decoded 29.97i fps. There is no "loss" of information.
Let's try something MUCH simpler. First - re-create your D2V file with "Force Film" enabled.
Then:
MPEG2Source("C:\Documents and Settings\PC 8\Mis documentos\VTS_01_1.demuxed.d2v",cpu=4,info=3)
colormatrix(mode="rec.709->rec.601")
FFT3DFILTER(sigma=3,bt=3,sharpen=1.0)
Toon()
gradfun2db(1.5)
Start with that, and see how your encode goes :)

This is Force Film? :
assumeTFF()
telecide()
If i use this setting in the Hagane no Renkijitsu (Fullmetal Alchemist) R1 DVD is some scenes i got some interlancing at some carcaters mouth when they are speaking. I haven't try animeivtc for fullmetal to see if that works. PRobably i'm doing something wrong
What is this colormatrix(mode="rec.709->rec.601") ?
How can i make the colors a litle more vivid? is there a default seting like TV->PC but affect colors as well not just brightness and constrast.

assumeTFF()

"Force film" is a menu option in DGIndex you have to set before you store your project (i.e. D2V) file. If anything, you'd have to remove Telecide from your script afterwards...

I tried animeivtc and does it does a great job, no interlancing artifact anywhere.

You may not need to use AnimeIVTC - it's very powerful, but isn't necessary in this case (IMO)

See? If it says FILM, then set Force Film in DGIndex.
