I want to use RipBot264, but I don't like what FFDshow does to my system.

I installed FFDshow a few weeks ago and I carefully chose the options as to not set it as the decoder for any files. It worked fine with RipBot264, but I could no longer get thumbnails for Divx/Xvid files in explorer (WMV and mpg files worked fine.) I tried configuring FFDshow many ways. I installed and reinstalled Divx and Xvid. Uninstalling FFDshow didn't work either.

I gave up and reinstalled Windows. How do I unsure that this problem doesn't happen again.

DirectShow Control/Merit adjustment.

I set it to be disabled in all applications except RipBot. I also tried setting it to be explicitly disabled for explorer.exe. Neither of those worked.

Question: Why did you remove all options?????

Make sure that libavcodec is used in FFDshow for Xvid and Divx.

You easily configure ffdshow to be limited to certain applications. And you can also choose which video/audio formats you want ffdshow to handle.
So if this didn't work, you used an old/borked version of ffdshow, you didn't configure it properly, or something else was screwed up on your system.

I'd recommend to install the latest ffdshow-tryouts and try again:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=173941&package_id=199416

If you still encounter problems, you can report your problem here:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=120465

You can unregister (remove) ffdshow at any time, if it doesn't work as expected...

Ok. I installed the latest version, 08-06-12. Everything seems fine with the default settings. I must have had a bad version before.

Thank you.
