tyan tiger s2460+nandub

I've heard of problems with using the tyan tiger mobo and dual AMD xp's / mp's with nandub...anybody have this and got it to work? Also wondering about nandub's SMP capability. Does running a duallie help encode speed significantly versus a single processor? If you got this working please tell me, i'm poised to buy a tyan tiger s2460 and dual XP 1900+'s

Nandub, as well as virtualdub, does not support multiprocessing.

Having a Tyan S2460 I can assure you it is an utterly stable mobo, and you can run any program you want. Don't expect Nandub to be any faster on a dual processor system, though. Only if you want to run other processor intensive programs you will see superior performance.

I see...What about filters within vdub/nandub (most of my encode time is taken up by filters) I may be wrong, but can filters support SMP while nandub/vdub doesnt? What about assigning filters as separate threads? just a thought

ps anybody know if it is possible at all to use unregged non-ecc ram in S2460? I have read that it is only necessary to use regged if you are using more than 2 dimms, but i am worried about stability problems even so. The tiger is picky about its ram from what i hear.

sure is picky when it comes to RAM. I wouldn't take any chances here.

I use Crucial (ECC, Reg, 4 modules of 256mb) and only got it to work after (temporarily) enabling ECC. What I heard Corsair should be easier to install. Anyway, save money at some other component!
