Cyberlink Codec Problem. [Archive]

When I register Cyberlink codecs (MPEG-2, H.264 and VC-1) they load fine using Haali splitter except VC-1. Any filter experts here that know what the problem is with it?

:(. It seems impossible to find good standalone decoders.

Haali splitter doesn't display thumbs in VMC, also it has some problems with MPEG-2 Blu-rays.

MPC-HC splitter has alot of problems with VC-1 and H.264 because it's still in so early stage. But this looks really promising :).

Arcsoft splitter and decoders work also but no sound.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know :).

Arcsoft splitter and decoders work also but no sound.Are you saying that these codecs don't work properly when you use the programs that they are components of (PowerDVD and Arcsoft)?

i say it again :) Cyberlink VC1 Decoder "cant" be used outside PowerDVD

Sry, I ment that when using PowerDVD 8 Ultra (updated to latest version) I get no sound from DTS tracks. Also Cyberlink VC-1 decoder works outside of PowerDVD if you use Cyberlink splitter also.

I forgot what the problem with Arcsoft exactly was, i think it worked ok but something didn't outside of that program.

It does, I'm using it now. Cyberlink splitter loads clvc1dec.ax.

Yes CLDemuxer.ax. You just had to edit splitter merit, by default it is do not use (mine is at 00630000. I'm decoding m2ts files, but for some strange reason PDVD won't decode DTS tracks in Blu-rays (DTS in original disc plays, but if you run it trough tsremux/tsmuxer then it wont work anymore), so this looks like a dead end for my HTPC.

Have the same experience regarding non-playing of remuxed DTS tracks from Powerdvd 8 itself. Using Vista SP1 x64 in case of interest.

Weird, it works for me without VC1 tweak. Clean Vista install, installed PDVD and changed the CLDemuxer and CLVC1dec merits.

Really where to find VC-1 tweak. Maybe can speedup encoding to force with DXVA, especialy when decoding 1080, because sonic decoder is slow, and use 100% of CPU all the time,

I only have m2ts files that I can test. No, it seems that only CLDemuxer loads VC1decoder. My PDVD version is latest that is on the Cyberlink website.

Madshi gave the code for VC1Tweaker, I edited it to work with MPC-HC MPEG Splitter, but it seems that both original and the one I edited doesn't work in WMP11 or Media Center. Both work fine in MPC but somehow WMP11 still thinks that decoder for VC-1 is missing.

Greetings Joniii and thanks for the new VC-1 Loader. Here's the test results under XP3 using the folloing source filter/splitters.

MPC - Mpeg Splitter
MPC - Mpeg Source

Haali Media Splitter (Source)
Haali Media Splitter (AR)

1. VC-1 Loader connects with MPC - Mpeg Splitter but not MPC - Mpeg Source.
2. VC-1 Loader connects with Haali Media Splitter (Source) but not Haali Media Splitter (AR).
3. Video playback is not smooth, and not at correct speed. Seems that frame rate info is not passed on.

Appreciate if you could look into this.

Any chance of making a similar filter to connect the arcsoft vc-1 decoder to the MPC Mpeg Splitter? On my system it seems to be the only decoder capable of decoding vc-1 properly (XP, ATI 4670).

It would be great if CyberLink VC-1 Decoder (PDVD7) could be used with CyberLink Audio Decoder for M2TS/TS in MPC-HC (as CyberLink AVC Decoder can).

CyberLink VC-1 Decoder and CyberLink Demux do work together in MPC-HC but either do not call on CyberLink Audio Decoder or else it does not play anyway (can see still frames only). Other audio decoders behave likewise at best.

Conversely, Haali Media Splitter (AR) recognizes the audio and does call on CyberLink Audio Decoder but of course cannot connect to CyberLink VC-1 Decoder.

VC-1 Loader fails to connect to Haali Media Splitter (AR). So what was the intended purpose -just for MKV with either Haali Media Splitter (Source?) or MPC internal?

What must be done to achieve this?

I agree... I haven't been able to get vc-1 loader to connect either.

Edit: Check that, I can get vc-1 loader to connect to the haali splitter and to the cyberlink vc-1 decoder but I can't get the cyberlink vc-1 video decoder to connect to the video output. I think perhaps I have too old a version of the cyberlink vc-1 decoder. (ver. 1.7.7705) Audio connects fine.

I also tried your Haali/Arcsoft build but no luck... Everything connects in graphedit but I just get a black screen. WMVideo Decoder DMO and Cyberlink audio work OK with Haali on VC-1 stuff, but not as low of CPU utilization as H264.

About stuttering I believe that there maybe an error in Cyberlink VC1 Loader for Haali. When I play a file using VC1 I can see that there is a transformation from 1920x1080 to 720x480 from VC1 Loader and from VC1 to MPEG2 or at least that is how I understand it (I am not at all familiar with filters). Here is the Graph Report (Level 5) from GraphStudio:

See attached file.

There is also a hardware acceleration button for Cyberlink VC1 Decoder. When in external filters in MPC HC use add filter, select Cyberlink VC1 Decoder (PDVD8) and then double click the newly added filter and tick in miscellaneous the use hardware accelerator.

Any help will be welcome as I prefer Cyberlink video decoders for their picture quality.

Have you got CyberLink VC-1 Decoder (PDVD7.x) working with Haali Media Splitter (AR) for TS/M2TS?

I would love to try it out but cannot get it to load, even though VC-1 Tweaker (Haali AR) is set to Prefer.

Is the tweaker/loader matched to a certain version of the decoder?

No, Haali Media Splitter (AR) is not working for me at all.
I believe that the tweakers/loaders are matched to certain decoder versions as my arcsoft video decoder was not working until I updated my TMT to the latest version.

Each version of the VC-1 tweak filter will only work with a particular combination of splitter/decoder, as defined by the GUIDs by which the filters are identified. The problem with the Cyberlink VC-1 decoder is that it doesn't work very well. I tested multiple versions, files and even GPUs and the decoder just stutters a lot.

Strange. I'm afraid I don't really know how madshi's filter works, I just made some simple changes to the GUIDs.

Haali loader is working but choppy. I have the same issues with haali-arcsoft decoder combo, but gabest-arcsoft combo is working without frame drops. However the latter only works with WVC1 in ts files, but not in mkv.

Cyberlink Gabest loader is not working at all for some reason (tweaker won't connect).

Switched to Nero, looks like its the only decoder that works on my machine.

The CyberLink Loader for the Gabest source filter didn't work for me either, so I decided to patch the Haali version in order to connect to the Gabest source filter “MPEG PS/TS/PVA”. You will need a VC-1 decoder from CyberLinks PowerDVD8, because the decoders from PDVD9 are packed (encrypted) and cannot be registered any more. Btw, many decoders from the Trial or Update packs are not time limited. For further details have a look into the readme file of the rar archive, please.

Loader for the PDVD8 VC-1 decoder (2.2.0.6102 etc) connecting to Gabest or Haali (m2ts) source filters:
Update:: Added another tweaker version made for connections to the Gabest Splitter filter instead.

Arcsoft decoder is better than Cyberlink IMO, however for some weird reason it only connects when playing .TS files, but not .MKV. Maybe something was changed in Gabest Splitter?

not sure what your problem with the ArcSoft decoder really is? It's indeed working better (playing perfectly smooth) unlike the stuttering CyberLink VC-1 decoder, but I don't trust the ArcSoft decoder, because it wants to install its connection service and also shows some other strange behaviour sometimes like not closing MPC-HC properly and leaving some ghost processes running in the background. That's why I don't use the ArcSoft decoder. As long as VC-1i video clips are rarely used I can live without it. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1157287&page=3

I installed Jay Bee's VC-1 tweaker and Arcsoft's decoder v2.25.175.64. When I play .TS file, everything works as planned (Gabest Splitter connects to VC-1 tweaker which connects to Arcsoft decoder). However when I try to play MKV file with VC-1, I receive the standard MPC error ("the following pins failed to find a connectable filter"). For some reason tweaker won't connect if VC-1 is in MKV, but connects if the very same VC-1 is in TS.

I thought again about your problem with the mkv files and now I remember that, of course, it can not connect because every source filter has a different GUID and every tweaker works just with one of these GUIDs. It can only connect to a specific filter, they don't have a list of GUIDs for different source filters.

But it's easy to change the GUID and the the name of a tweaker if you want to create a new tweaker for a different source filter. That's what I did with the Haali Tweaker for the Cyberlink VC-1 decoder when I created the Gabest tweaker out of it. You can do that with every Hex editor. The GUIDs are 16 bytes long and there are generators for GUIDs available for everybody. The first half of the numbers is little endian, the second part is big endian.
